현대글로비스, 5000억 규모 車운송계약…“업계 최대규모”
현대글로비스가 단일 계약으로 업계 최대 규모인 5000억원의 해상운송 계약을 체결했다고 16일 밝혔다. 2010년 해상 운송 사업에 진출한 이래 사상 최대 규모의 계약이다.
이번 계약의 화주는 글로벌 완성차 브랜드다. 현대글로비스는 2022년 1월부터 12월까지 1년간 중국에서 생산된 완성차를 유럽으로 해상운송 할 예정이다.
1년 계약금액 5018억원은 현대글로비스가 글로벌 완성차 단일 업체와 맺은 계약 가운데 사상 최대 규모다. 글로벌 완성차 해상운송 시장에서도 유례없는 수준인 것으로 알려졌다. 현대글로비스는 유럽과 중국 간 왕복 셔틀 해상운송 물량을 안정적으로 확보함으로써 수익성을 한층 끌어 올릴 수 있을 것으로 전망하고 있다.
현대글로비스는 2020년 폭스바겐에 이어 이번 계약까지 잇따라 대형 수주를 따내 글로벌 완성차 해상운송 시장에서 입지를 굳혀가고 있다. 지난해 폭스바겐그룹은 현대글로비스에 5년 장기 해상운송계약을 맡겨, 폭스바겐, 아우디, 포르쉐 등 폭스바겐그룹 내 전 승용차 브랜드의 유럽발 중국 수출 물량 전체를 현대글로비스가 단독으로 운송하게 됐다.
현대글로비스는 계약 성사의 배경으로 과감한 투자를 통한 경쟁력 확보를 꼽았다. 현대글로비스는 90척의 선대, 80여개의 글로벌 물류 네트워크를 기반으로 자동차 운반선의 특성을 살려 전 세계에 해상운송 서비스를 제공하고 있다. 대규모 선단을 보유해 화주가 원하는 운항 스케줄에 신속하게 대응할 수 있다는게 회사 측의 설명이다.
