1. 파나소닉은 미국 캔자스주에 약 40억 달러를 투입해 EV 배터리 공장을 건설하여 테슬라에 2170 배터리셀을 공급할 예정입니다.

 

파나소닉에서의 4680 배터리셀 생산은 2024년 3월 목표입니다.

 

Panasonic has planned a new electric vehicle (EV) battery plant in Kansas and will break ground on the project next month.

The Japanese battery maker first announced it has selected Kansas as the site for its newest EV battery factory in the US in July. The plant will supply batteries to Tesla and create up to 4,000 jobs. The total investment could reach as much as $4 billion.

However, the company will begin making the 4680 battery in Wakayama, Japan, expanding to the US after that. Umeda confirmed on Monday that their plans for mass production of Tesla’s 4680 battery cell are on track to begin in March 2024.

3. 테슬라가 스위스 광산 대기업인 클렌코어 지분 매입을 위해 올해 3월까지 협의를 했지만 합의에 이르지는 못했다는 소식입니다.

 

코발트 채굴시 먼지와 입자가 지속 노출 되어 광부들에게 폐와 피부 질환이 발생하고 몇몇 광산 회사들은 미성년자 광부들을 고용한 혐의를 받고 있기 때문에 친환경 이미지와 맞지 않은 것도 결렬된 이유 중에 포함되는 것 같습니다.

 

중요한 것은 테슬라는 지속적으로 EV 생산량을 늘리고 4680 조립라인을 확대하기 위해 광산업 진출을 고려하고 있다는 사실입니다.

 

Tesla planned to buy a minority equity stake of 10% to 20% in Glencore but the two companies were not able to reach a deal. The EV manufacturer had concerns over Glencore’s compatibility with Tesla’s environmental goals. 

The discussions between Tesla and Glencore didn’t yield any results. However, the talks hint that Tesla is seriously thinking of entering the mining industry as it tries to ramp EV production worldwide and its 4680 assembly line.
