1. 일론 머스크가 트위터를 430억 달러(주당 $54.20)에 인수하고 비공개 전환할 것이라고 공식 발표했습니다.

 

트위터 인수 목적에 대해 여러 의견들이 나오고 있는데, 분명한 것은 제가 아는 머스크라면 명분도 취하고, 실리도 취하지 않을까 생각됩니다. 

 

Twitter’s board has accepted an offer from billionaire Elon Musk to buy the social media company and take it private, the company announced Monday.

“Free speech is the bedrock of a functioning democracy, and Twitter is the digital town square where matters vital to the future of humanity are debated,” Musk said in a statement included in the press release announcing the $44 billion deal. “I also want to make Twitter better than ever by enhancing the product with new features, making the algorithms open source to increase trust, defeating the spam bots, and authenticating all humans. Twitter has tremendous potential — I look forward to working with the company and the community of users to unlock it.”

The cash deal at $54.20 per share is valued at around $44 billion, according to the press release. Twitter would become a private company on completion of the deal, which requires shareholder and regulatory approval.

2. 고속도로법 개정안을 통해 영국에서 자율주행 차량을 이용하는 국민들이 내장형 스크린으로 TV를 시청할 수 있게 될 예정입니다.

 

이로써 테슬라가 유럽에서 FSD 베타 테스트를 시작할 수 있는 길이 열렸으며, 여름 정도에 적용될 것으로 예상되는 상황입니다.

 

UK citizens using self-driving cars will be allowed to watch TV on built-in screens in line with proposed updates to the Highway Code. This could pave the way for Tesla to begin testing FSD Beta in Europe.

A proposed update to the Highway Code includes the ability for drivers to view TV in self-driving cars that are moving. At the same time, they must be ready to take back control of their vehicles when asked to do so, the government said. The first permit is likely to limit the speed of vehicles. For example, such testing may initially occur in traffic jams.

Self-driving cars are currently not allowed on UK roads, although Tesla is already offering functionality to make cars self-driving, albeit with close supervision by the driver. The company has developed and is testing the FSD Beta feature in the US and Canada, and intends to expand into Europe later this year. Tesla CEO Elon Musk has mentioned that the manufacturer hopes to get regulatory approval this summer. UK policy indicates that the country is ready to gradually introduce self-driving cars on its roads, which could be a good prerequisite for testing FSD Beta there.

3. 하와이안 항공(Hawaiian Airlines)에서도 승객들을 위해 스타링크 와이파이 서비스를 제공할 예정입니다.

 

하와이안 항공도 서비스가 좋았던 기억이 나는데, 스타링크 서비스의 확장이 너무 좋네요. ㅎ

 

SpaceX launches Starlink satellites to Low Earth Orbit on a weekly basis to expand broadband coverage globally. To date, the company operates around 2,200 satellites and it already beams internet service to over 250,000 customers living across 29 countries and has over half-a-million service pre-orders it is in the process fulfilling. SpaceX’s goal is to provide high-speed internet with low-latency anywhere on the planet.

On Monday, April 25, Hawaiian Airlines announced it will become the first major airline to provide free SpaceX Starlink Wi-Fi for passengers. The airline will equip its Airbus A330 and A321neo aircraft, as well as an incoming fleet of Boeing 787-9s, with Starlink terminals to access the satellite constellation during transpacific flights next year. Hawaiian Airlines currently does not provide any Wi-Fi service during flights because they have not found a reliable network that serves flights over the Pacific Ocean.
