Tesla is taking a proactive stance in response to the recent termination of government electric vehicle (EV) subsidies in Germany. As of December 18, 2023, Tesla has announced it will compensate buyers for the subsidy cut with new Model 3 and Model Y orders scheduled for delivery by December 31, 2023.
Germany, a key player in the global automotive market, and home to Tesla’s Giga Berlin, has promoted environmentally friendly transportation through various incentive programs. Until recently the government had offered a subsidy of €6,750, including €4,500 from the government, along with €2,250 from the automaker.

Tesla will bump pay rates for its workers at its Gigafactory in Sparks, Nevada, by ten percent around the New Year, according to a report.
The move could be looked at as a way to fend off union interest from workers, as the company has been in the interest of several union groups across the world.
Hourly rate workers are set to have the raises, according to internal documents seen by CNBC, where workers with current pay rates of $20 will have $22, and $30.65 will become $34.50. The increases are set to add a range of $2 to $8.30 to the hourly worker’s pay rate.

Tesla has opened select Superchargers to non-Tesla electric vehicles (EVs) in Ireland, Romania and Hungary, as announced earlier this month.
A couple of weeks ago, the Tesla Charging account on X posted the news, saying that select Superchargers in each of the countries were opening to non-Tesla EVs. A report on Tuesday from The Irish Times noted that five of the nine Supercharging locations in the country will now be opened to non-Tesla EVs, including those in Dublin, Cork, Athenry, Enfield and Tralee.

Volkswagen, Audi, Porsche and Scout Motors, all part of the broader VW Group, have announced it is also adopting Tesla’s North American Charging Standard (NACS). The agreement comes more than six months after the first automaker, Ford, announced its intentions to adopt NACS and gain access to Tesla’s Supercharger network.
