1. 어제 테슬라 이슈 중 제일 중요했던 내용은 바로, 반도체 쇼티지(shortage)에 대한 내용이었습니다.

 

머스크는 9월 24일 이탈리아 테크위크에서 이미 건설 중이거나 건설 계획 단계에 있는 반도체 공장으로 인해 전세계 칩 부족은 단기적인 영향만 입게 될 것이라 말했습니다. 

 

• 3월 인텔은 애리조나 챈들러에 팹이라 불리는 2개의 칩 공장을 짓는데 200억 달러를 투입하겠다.
• 5월 대만의 반도체 제조회사는 애리조나에 반도체 공장을 짓겠다.
• 삼성은 170억 달러 규모의 새로운 반도체 공장을 텍사스에 건설할 계획이다.

 

이 말은 즉, 테슬라에게는 반도체 쇼티지로 인한 문제가 없을 것이라는 말과 같습니다. 

Tesla CEO Elon Musk believes the global shortage of semiconductors will have a short-term impact on the auto industry as new factories are being built to produce them.

Elon Musk stated on September 24 during a joint session with Stellantis and Ferrari Chairman John Elkann at Italian Tech Week that with the construction of new semiconductor factories already under construction or in the planning stages, the global chip shortage should only have a short-term impact. When asked how long this issue will have an impact on the auto industry, he replied "a short term I think," according to Reuters.

The problem that has arisen, which struck and significantly delayed the auto industry in 2020-2021, will be resolved after new factories producing them are built. “There's a lot of chip fabrication plants that are being built,” Musk said. "I think we will have good capacity for providing chips by next year," he added.

In March, Intel announced that it will spend $20 billion to build two new chip factories, called fabs, in Chandler, Arizona. In May, Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co said it will build a semiconductor facility in Arizona. Samsung also intends to build a new $17 billion semiconductor factory, likely in Texas.

3. 스페이스X에서는 훗날 우주 여행자들에게 스타링크 와이파이를 제공할 계획이라고 합니다.

 

SpaceX plans to provide Starlink Wi-Fi to future space travelers. The company operates a constellation of internet-beaming Starlink satellites that will blanket Earth with high-speed internet connection. To date, SpaceX operates approximately 1,797 satellites out of over 20,000 that will be launched in the years ahead. Musk said that SpaceX will be capable of providing Starlink internet service to spacecraft even when its flying below or above the satellites. “We’d use our Ka parabolics or laser links for Dragon, Starship or other spacecraft as soon as they got above cloud level,” Musk shared. SpaceX's broadband constellation has satellites equipped with inter-satellite communication laser links that enable each to communicate with one another to transfer data without directly receiving signal from a ground station on Earth. This feature will be useful to provide Starlink internet directly to Dragon or Starship’s cabin.

개인적으로는 머스크가 스타링크도, 도지코인도 단순히 지구에서만의 사용을 위해 만들고, 펌핑시킨다고 생각하지 않았는데, 이러한 상상들은 조금씩 현실로 다가오는 느낌입니다.
